ATLANTA— Atlanta-based nonprofit Black Girls Smile Inc. is hosting its second annual
'Black Girls are Magic' conference on July 17-19 entitled "Breaking Barriers, Building Resilience: The Path to Empowered Black Girls”. Famed singer and dancer Normani and leading athleticwear brand, Fabletics, are supporting this year by hosting a virtual event.
The conference will include a special meditation session with a Fabletics yoga instructor, followed by a discussion on breaking barriers to prioritize mental wellbeing, and on the last day, an intimate conversation with Normani. There will also be sessions to help parents and other caregivers support Black girls through their mental health journeys.
“We are excited to be hosting this event for the second year. Mental health challenges for young Black girls and women are rising, and there is a need to provide more gender and culturally-centered mental health programming to fulfill the gaps in mental health services, expressed Black Girls Smile Founder and Executive Director Lauren Carson. We are grateful to partners like Normani and Fabletics that support our conference and programs to bring mental health resources and information to more young Black women and girls, continues Carson.”
"I am honored to be part of the Black Girls are Magic conference this year. Growing up, having access to certain resources and to be connected with others similar to me was very limited, so to be able to give back and be part of a community that prioritizes mental health and well-being for young black women is a joy, and something I do not take for granted. I am looking forward to meeting these incredible young women,” expressed Normani.
“Fabletics fosters an authentically inclusive community by championing health and wellness for all. We are excited to be a part of this event and seek opportunities, partners, and programs that support and impact our connected community,” said a Fabletics representative.
Registration for the conference is available now until Friday, July 14th, 2023. Those interested can register online here.

Normani exudes and emanates the kind of confidence you can only earn. The multi-platinum chart-topping singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist speaks her mind through unshakable anthems spiked with style, soul, and spirit. With sky high ambition and a work ethic to match, she consistently progresses with clarity and without compromise. The New Orleans/Texas-raised talent rose to international renown as a member of pop juggernaut Fifth Harmony, performing to sold out arenas, gathering awards, and releasing a string of multi platinum hits. In 2018, she kickstarted her solo career with the quintuple-platinum “Love Lies” [feat. Khalid]. She joined forces with Sam Smith for 2019’s “Dancing With A Stranger,” reaching quadruple-platinum status and marking her second Top 10 bow on the Billboard Top 200. Following the platinum “Motivation,” she linked up with Megan Thee Stallion for “Diamonds” from the blockbuster soundtrack Birds of Prey: The Album. Meanwhile, she ignited 2021 with the platinum “Wild Side” [feat. Cardi B], which ascended to #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart. NPR predicted the latter “pushes the Fifth Harmony breakout star one step closer to pop sensation.” In between tallying billions of streams, she garnered six BMI Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, a MTV VMA, and a Soul Train Music Award. Along the way, she has also given back at every turn. The Cybersmile Foundation tapped her as Diversity Ambassador, while the American Cancer Society named her a Global Ambassador. Now, she embraces her poise, passion, and power like never before on a series of 2022 singles and her forthcoming full-length debut album.
