Since 2012, 10,000 Black women and girls have been supported nationally.
Rooted in care. Measured in impact. Powered by community.
We deliver culturally responsive mental health education, healing spaces, and pathways to care across schools and communities — meeting Black women and girls where they are and supporting the ecosystems around them.
Our Programs:
-
We partner with schools and youth-serving organizations to provide prevention-focused, culturally responsive mental health programming for students, caregivers, and educators.
Our school-based offerings include:
SEL small-group coaching for students
Large-group, interactive mental health workshops focused on coping skills, emotional awareness, and resilience
Parent and caregiver support groups that strengthen home–school connection
Educator trainings and professional development grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
-
Our community-based events create spaces for collective healing, reflection, and connection. Through workshops, wellness activations, and gatherings, we bring mental wellness into accessible, affirming environments — centering joy, creativity, and shared experience.
-
We help remove financial and systemic barriers to mental health care by connecting participants to culturally responsive therapy and mental health resources. Our therapy assistance program supports individuals and families who may otherwise lack access to care.
-
We host monthly support groups — both in-person and virtual — that center healing through shared experience and community care.
Our support groups focus on:
Intergenerational connection and healing
Specific lived experiences and intersections of identity
Queer-affirming support spaces
Grief and loss support
Each group is facilitated with intention, cultural responsiveness, and care.
Where Wellness Blooms Freely
Founded in 2012, Black Girls Smile, Inc. is a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing the mental health and well-being of young Black women and girls. We provide culturally and gender-responsive education, healing spaces, and resource connections that center joy, resilience, and community care.
Our work is rooted in the belief that mental wellness is a right — and that healing thrives when it is accessible, affirming, and community-led.
From workshops and support groups to community gatherings and wellness activations, our events create space for connection, reflection, and collective care.
Bringing people together to heal, learn, and grow.
